Led by nurturing and professional teaching artists, BAX’s Youth Education Department offers weekly after school and Saturday morning studio classes in Dance, Drama, Drag Arts, Tumbling and Creative Movement for ages 3-18. Our programs are built on five core values: skill-building, creative choice, collaboration, performance, and community. 

Gowanus | Art, Architecture | Ages 5-13 | Afterschool/Weekdays + Weekends

Brooklyn Builders Studio, founded by local parents, offers a joyful, hands-on architecture program for ages 5 to 13 in Gowanus. Kids develop design skills through sketching, model making, and material exploration, all in a screen-free environment. After-School is available Monday through Friday, September 10 - December 23, with pick up from neighboring schools. Mini Studios are offered during school holidays.

At Brooklyn Music Factory, learning music revolves around songwriting, games, and collaboration. Students are inspired to grow and develop as musicians, because learning at Brooklyn Music Factory is fun and creative. Private and group instrument and band classes available. At Brooklyn Youth Ballet, we believe that the high art form of ballet should be accessible, joyful, and deeply connected to our vibrant community. Child’s Play NY theater classes are right for both the child who passionately dreams of being on stage and the one who is simply looking for a joy-filled after school class! These award-winning theater classes empower young people to develop themselves and their skills. With a 12-student cap on each production class, students have ample stage-time and maximum growth. Their rehearsal process involves improv and research-backed theater games to stoke creativity and develop imaginations.

Cobble Hill/Carroll Gardens | Pottery, Ceramics | Ages 6-16 | Afterschool

Join us to create in clay! For ages 6-16, we offer weekly afterschool classes where students will learn the fundamentals of throwing pottery on the wheel (9 and up) as well as handbuilding (6 and up). Pottery develops growth in coordination, self-confidence, and of course creativity! All levels are welcome and class will be customized to each individual's skill level. Students will create many masterpieces and have plenty to come home with after learning how to throw, trim, and glaze their own work!

Develop your creativity with Creatively Wild Art Studio! Take your toddler’s talent to the top, allow kids to delve into art classes to draw out their abilities, turn teens into creative explorers, and save some time for yourself for an adult class! The infectious energy at Creatively Wild allows everyone to engage in their artistic pursuits in a supportive and positive way. Keylab offers individually tailored private music lessons, dynamic group music classes, exciting music workshops and more for ages 5 to adult. Musication offers personalized, one-on-one music lessons for children in the comfort of their homes throughout Brooklyn and Manhattan. Join the Pixie Pods fam! Pixie Pods is an early childhood dance and tumbling studio serving Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Queens, with our home base on the 2nd floor of the Atlantic Terminal Mall! We bring the fun with Ballet, Hip-hop, K-Pop, and ACRO/Tumbling classes, camps, and parties for kids! Each program is designed to spark joy, creativity, and confidence. Tam Tam connects families through hands-on music and movement classes for babies, toddlers and children up through 5 years old. In every 45-minute class we model the joy of informal musical play, make the songs our own, sing in a pitch register accessible to children, and include everyone's suggestions for singing and movement.

The Art Annex offers visual arts classes for all ages! Our after school program is designed for ages K-5th grade by our team of educators who are also artists themselves. Each class theme is unique, exploring a wide variety of media including printmaking, sculpture, textiles, woodworking, clay, painting, drawing and more!

Our nurturing teachers, who specialize in sparking a passion for creative expression in children, know how to make our classes special by creating an atmosphere of learning, fun & friendship. Focusing on hand-building and sculpture, painting pottery, mosaic techniques and canvas painting, students will craft bowls, plates, cups, vases as well as amazing sea creatures, animals and more creative fun.  Students are taught the fundamentals of slab, pinching, and coil techniques.
