June is Pride Month, commemorating the same month the Stonewall riots took place in 1969 following the police raid of a Manhattan gay bar. The Stonewall uprising is credited with launching the movement to outlaw discriminatory laws and practices against LGBTQIA+ Americans. Pride Month also recognizes the impact that LGBTQIA+ individuals have had on our society, along with the work of the community and its allies to achieve equal justice and opportunity for LGBTQIA+ Americans.
