Description
Since 2013, Pioneer Works has hosted Second Sundays, a free monthly open house. Highlighting our programs, artists-in-residence, and Red Hook community members, Second Sundays features open studios, exhibitions, workshops, live music, and food—with programming across all three floors and in our garden.
This month, highlights include:
- Bath Bombs | Everyone deserves a little TLC, especially moms. Take self care to the next level by creating a personalized bath bomb for your special person… and maybe an extra one for yourself, too.
- Mother’s Day Card Making | Let your mom or maternal figure know how special they are with a personalized Mother’s Day card.
- Regatta Boat Planning Help | Learn about the upcoming Red Hook Regatta with Evan Abel. Bring in your boat for support needs, or come in and ask a question.
- Scavenger Hunt | Grab a scavenger hunt sheet from the North Hall and enjoy a self-guided, in depth exploration of the latest Pioneer Works exhibitions by Hprizm and Yehwan Song. Once you’ve completed the hunt, return your sheet and claim your prize!
- Solar Gazing with the Amateur Astronomers | Join the Amateur Astronomers Association of New York in the Pionee garden for safe solar viewing. Telescopes will be provided between 1:00 and 4:00 pm. Weather permitting.
- Microscopy with Sally Kong | Explore the hidden worlds around us with community biologist Sally Kong. Get a close-up look at everyday materials and tiny life forms through the lens of a microscope, and learn about the fascinating structures that are normally invisible to the naked eye. Drop in anytime between 2 and 4 pm for hands-on discovery and conversation.
- And so much more! See the full lineup here.
