Description
Join us for an afternoon of learning and collecting seeds from our pollinator-friendly native plant beds!
At our flagship Bee Sanctuary at the Urban Farm on Governors Island, we will collect seeds from our rudbeckia, milkweed, bee balm, goldenrod, and more! While you engage in this activity, you will get seed-collecting tips from our Director of Horticulture, learn about seed stratification and germination, and hear how climate and its changing impacts some of the bee and plant species we see on Governors Island and beyond.
You'll hear about how bees support the pollination of these plants, and how we can support the bees in turn by saving seeds to plant in the spring.
The Bee Conservancy will supply garden gloves and seed-collecting, storing, and labeling supplies.
