Description
The 90-Second Newbery Film Festival is an annual video contest in which kid filmmakers create short movies that tell the entire story of Newbery award-winning books in just a few minutes. Creative takes are encouraged: think "Charlotte's Web" as a horror movie, or "The Tale of Desperaux" as a musical!
For thirteen years we've screened the best kid-made movies annually in Chicago, San Francisco, Boston, and many other cities . . . including right here in New York City!
Make your FREE reservation for the BROOKLYN screening of the 2024 90-Second Newbery on Saturday, February 10, 2024, here: https://90secondnewbery.ticketleap.com/90-second-newbery-brooklyn-2024/
The screening is at 1 pm at the central branch of the Brooklyn Public Library (in the Dweck Auditorium), hosted by film festival founder James Kennedy (author of "The Order of Odd-Fish") and Newbery Honor winner Rita Williams-Garcia ("One Crazy Summer" and more). We'll be showing movies made by kids from New York and some of the best from around the country.
Tickets are free! However, we recommend reserving your seat in advance to ensure admittance. Although a reservation is recommended, you don't have to bring a printed ticket. (Interested in making your own 90-Second Newbery movie? Great! The deadline is January 26, 2024. You can find complete details, plus video resources, at the 90-Second Newbery website: http://www.90secondnewbery.com.) Major support is provided by the Brooklyn Public Library.
