What is Drag Story Hour?
It’s just what it sounds like! Storytellers use the art of drag to read books to kids in libraries, schools, and bookstores. DSH celebrates reading through the glamorous art of drag, captures the imagination and play of the gender fluidity of childhood, and gives kids glamorous, positive, and unabashedly queer role models.
In spaces like this, kids are able to see people who defy rigid gender restrictions and imagine a world where everyone can be their authentic selves!
This fundraising event features karaoke, hosted by Bella Noche (founder of the DSH Long Island Chapter), food and drink from local businesses such as Elsa, Bjorn Corn, and Bạn Bè, and live portrait drawings by illustrators Ruth Chan and Dasha Tolstikova!
