For many, the fall season is a time of gathering, visiting family, sharing a meal, and even enjoying a parade or two. Join CMOM for a week-long festival as we explore dishes we can share, contribute to an evolving sculpture installation, and create handheld parade floats!
- 11/25 – 11/27: Hearty Harvest Sculptures (Inside Art): What do you normally eat with your family this time of year? Learn about all types of tasty traditions by sculpting, carving, and pinching together a dish unique to you!
- 11/25 – 11/27 @ 11 AM & 2 PM, 11/29 & 11/30 @ 3 PM: Cornucopia of Gratitude (PlayWorks): Create a 3D cornucopia to fill with sculpted fruits and vegetables, flowers, and everything you are thankful for.
- 11/22 – 11/27 @ 4 PM: Storytelling: Balloons Over Broadway (PlayWorks):Museum Educators share the story of the puppeteer Tony Sarg who invented the idea of the “upside-down puppets.” His idea of helium balloons has become the trademark of the Thanksgiving Day parade.
- 11/25 – 11/27: Miniature Moving Parade Floats (MakerSpace):Inspired by NYC’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, explore your creativity and design skills to create your mini parade float!
- 11/25 @ 2 & 3 PM for ages 5+: Candy Apples with Cricket’s Candy Creations (Discovery Classroom): Celebrate the fall season with Cricket’s Candy Creations as we do some upside-down candy apple decorating. Cricket’s Candy Creations is a multi-sensory experience where you can craft edible candy art immersed in a candy-themed world—a unique outlet for exploration, visualization, creativity, and fun. - 11/26 @ 2 & 3 PM for ages 5+: Smoked Bean Chili with Allergic to Salad (Discovery Classroom): Cook along with chefs from Allergic to Salad as we mix up some smoked bean chili, the perfect warm hug needed in the fall. Allergic to Salad increases skills, techniques, and familiarity with healthy foods by nourishing exploration through hands-on, activity-filled classes. Sign up only!*
