1. On the Shoulders of…: Hold Up Who Holds You Up at BAM

Saturday, April 5 | 12-3:30pm | Concert $10-$20, Workshop $5, Gallery Walk & Artist Talkback | FREE | Fort Greene | Ages 0-11

You’re invited to enjoy an afternoon of multi-genre, intergenerational artistry, curated by BAM Education’s alumni and teaching artists. This fun day of art and music for kids includes an instrument-making workshop, artist talk, and concert by the Brown Rice Family. Join us in celebrating the power of community, collective creation, and care through music, dance, and visual art! Schedule:

2. Celebrate Eid Around the World at Brooklyn Children's Museum

Experience how cultures around the world mark the end of Ramadan and celebrate Eid al-Fitr! Enjoy a day of music, dance, food, and art that honors cultural traditions from across the Muslim world, presented in partnership with Council Member Shahana Hanif. Enjoy vibrant Bangladeshi dance performances by the Bangladesh Institute of Performing Arts, interactive drumming inspired by Sufi traditions, and engaging storytelling that tells the story of Eid presented by The Culture Tree. Plus Turkish, Kurdish, and Islamic classical music, delicious food provided by local vendors through the Turkish Cultural Center of Brooklyn, and more!




3. BABYTOPIA World of Fun for Bump through Preschool at Atlantic Terminal Mall

Join us at Atlantic Terminal Mall in Downtown Brooklyn for a day filled with excitement and learning for parents-to-be and little ones up to preschool age. At BABYTOPIA, you'll discover fun activities, workshops, and resources tailored to support you on your parenting journey. Expect free kids' activities for ages 0 - 4, a play area, free maternity and family portraits, parent and me demo classes, balloon twisting, art activities, plus lots of sampling, freebies, and giveaways from top local businesses and services for families. 4. Smorgasburg Season Opening

Saturday, April 5 in Williamsburg | Sunday, April 6 in Prospect Park | 11am-6pm | FREE entry 

Smorgasburg, presented in partnership with Marsha P Johnson State Park and Prospect Park Alliance, is considered the “Woodstock of Eating.” This beloved food festival offers a range of cuisines from local food purveyors. Visit Smorgasburg Prospect Park every Saturday beginning April 5 in Marsha P Johson State Park and  every Sunday beginning April 6 on Prospect Park’s Breeze Hill, near the Lincoln Road entrance, through October.




5. Sensory Sensitive Sundays at Chuck E. Cheese

Sunday, April 6 and April 27 | 9-11am | FREE entry | Downtown Brooklyn

Launched in 2017, Chuck E. Cheese’s monthly Sensory Sensitive Sundays have supported thousands of children and families on the spectrum at select locations by opening two hours early on the first Sunday of the month to provide an environment with dimmed lighting and lower volume so that kids with sensory sensitivities can enjoy all that Chuck E. Cheese has to offer. Open 2 hours early the first Sunday of the month + their Annual National Sensory Sensitive Sunday.




6. Brooklyn Conservatory of Music Celebrates Holi in Prospect Park

Sunday, April 6 (new date) | 1-2:30pm | FREE entry, $6 for each colored powder packet | Prospect Park Long Meadow

Join Mixed Masala and BKCM in celebrating Holi! The celebration begins at 3pm with picnicking and live music at Long Meadow (near Grand Army Plaza). Bring a blanket and snacks and enjoy the free concert. At 4pm, attendees will be invited to join in the traditional celebration of throwing colored powder. Wear white clothing and expect to get messy! 




7. Bindlestiff Open Stage Variety Show at Voorhees Theatre

The Bindlestiff Open Stage Variety Show is a celebration of the vibrant and diverse world of variety entertainment, featuring a dynamic lineup of talented artists. A monthly open mic for variety artists hosted by Bindlestiff Family Cirkus co-founder Keith Nelson, this crowd-favorite features emerging performers and seasoned pros alike honing new acts in front of a live audience.




8. ReelAbilities Film Festival: ReelShorts at 343 Grand and The Trouble with Mr. Doodle at Central Library

Tuesday, April 8 and Wednesday, April 9 | 7pm | $20, FREE | Williamsburg, Prospect Heights

The 17th Annual ReelAbilities Film Festival runs through April 9 in venues throughout NYC + Online. The April 8 screening features a collection of three shorts (54 mins) that finds humor in the unexpected including "Comedy Against The Odds" about 10-year-old Austin Eletto who brings his personal perspective to the stand-up comedy stage, using humor to bridge identity and build connection while challenging assumptions about autism. The April 9 screening (1h30mins) features the story of a young boy who has doodled obsessively since he first held a pen. His compulsion intensifies until his home and mind are dominated by endless drawings. 




9. Keff Joons by CJ Hendry art exhibit in DUMBO

Playful Australian Artist, local Brooklyn Mom, and Space Club Owner CJ Hendry brings new Jeff-Koons-balloon-sculpture-inspired exhibit to DUMBO April 11-20.

11. Deno's Wonder Wheel Amusement Park Opening

Sunday, April 13 | 10am, kiddie park opens at 11am, adult rides open at noon | Coney Island

Celebrating the 105th Season and the 70th Annual Official Palm Sunday Opening with their 40th Annual "Blessing of the Rides" at 10am on April 13th. The first 105 peole will ride Deno's Wonder Wheel for free!

    In this workshop, Esther and her puppet, Bernie the Bee, will assist kids in creating bee, bat, and butterfly puppets and will teach about how these creatures pollinate many of the fruits and vegetables we eat and how important they are to maintaining healthy ecosystems worldwide. Families are encouraged to bring recycled toilet paper and paper towel rolls for the base of the puppets and any other recycled/upcycled materials such as colored paper, fabric scraps, beads, sequins, pipe cleaners, etc.

14. Puppets at the Park House: Tina the Terrified Turtle at Marsha P. Johnson State Park

Thursday, April 17 | 3pm and 4pm shows | FREE | All ages | Williamsburg

Puppets at the Park House presents "Tina the Terrified Turtle!" Can Tina be brave and find a new pond to be her home? All programs are free and materials are provided. Showings will last approximately 20 minutes.




15. Family Discovery Weekends + Hanami Nights at Brooklyn Botanic Garden

Join Green-Wood for a day of family-friendly nature adventures! Expert naturalists will be leading walks to collect data on birds, insects, fungi, and plants at the Cemetery for the City Nature Challenge. Genspace, New York’s community bio lab, will bring the fun of science exploration through interactive performances. And so much more! 20. The Big Brooklyn Playdate at Central Library

Wednesday, April 30 | 10:30am-12pm | For ages 0-3 | Prospect Heights

Stop by the Big Brooklyn Playdate to enjoy fun games and activities that delight young children and encourage early literacy. Science Baby will be hosting the Toddler Zone, featuring hands-on, active, sensory play with big STEM concepts for little kids. Come to play and leave ready to turn ordinary objects in your home into your child’s favorite toys. The Big Brooklyn Playdate is supported by the NY City Council's City's First Readers Initiative.
