2024 Brooklyn Hanukkah Celebrations Guide

Join the community to celebrate with 20+ events as Hanukkah approaches in late December!

By Meredith Kurnov, Editor & Publisher of Macaroni Kid Brooklyn NW December 5, 2024

From menorah lightings and treats to concerts and crafts, there are 20+ wonderful opportunities to "bring light into the world" and celebrate Hanukkah across Brooklyn!

Often referred to as the Festival of Lights, Hanukkah (or Chanukah) is a Jewish holiday celebrated with food, fun, and family. This year, the 8 nights of Hanukkah are December 25-January 2 – a rare year when the first night of Hanukkah coincides with Christmas Day! Since 1900, there have been only four years that the holidays have similarly overlapped: 2005, 1959, 1921, and 1910.

The 2024 Brooklyn Hanukkah Celebrations Guide is brought to you by:

The Senesh School (Carroll Gardens) – which invites the entire Brooklyn Jewish community to kick off your Hanukkah celebrations at their annual Brooklyn Family Hanukkah Arts Festival on Sunday, December 15th with lots of kids' arts and craft activities, music, dance and special pop-up holiday Shuk (market) featuring local Jewish and Israeli vendors. The cost is just $10 per child 2 and older at the door and is FREE for grownups and children under 2. Register here.

The Early Childhood Center at CBE (Park Slope and Prospect Heights) – which invites you to join us for a very special Youth & Family Hanukkah Celebration on Sunday, December 15 at 3 p.m., including favorites like the Great Hanukkah Sing-a-long with Debbie Brukman and Friends along with A Playground of Light, a sensory-sensitive experience of the holiday. We’ll also be packing and decorating care packages for our neighbors in need. FREE to all. Spread the word!

Jewish Children's Museum (Crown Heights) – Bring the family to the Chanukah Family Fest at the Jewish Children’s Museum! Celebrate: with Donut Decorating, Craft: Bath Bombs, Demo: the art of ancient Olive Oil making with the Soil To Oil Workshop, and Explore: immersive Jewish & Chanukah exhibits. Dec 22–Jan 2. Visit www.jcm.museum for details and reservations. Use code MENORAH18 for 10% off. 792 Eastern Pkwy, Brooklyn. Call 718-907-8833.
