Welcome Autumn! Pencil in these seasonal favorites in Brooklyn and beyond!

As the weather cools and Autumn arrives, get excited these not-to-be-missed family-friendly Fall festivals in Brooklyn and beyond!

September 21 – November 3 (including Monday, Oct. 14) | 11am-5pm

Pumpkin Picking Weekends at Green Meadows Farm

Head to Green Meadows farm for a day of outdoor activities, and choose a favorite pumpkin from their patch. Farm activities include hayrides, petting zoo, Katie the talking cow, bunny barn, playground, and farm machinery play.

Downtown Brooklyn Arts Festival at The Plaza at 300 Ashland

The Downtown Brooklyn Arts Festival (DBAF) is an annual celebration of Downtown Brooklyn’s cultural community and the artists who inspire the borough’s creative spirit. Acclaimed artists and arts organizations from across the Brooklyn Cultural District share programming at The Plaza at 300 Ashland with exciting performances, workshops, and family programming. Among the program highlights, BAMkids presents BAM teaching artists for an introduction to Afro-Caribbean rhythms and movement, followed by an energetic performance by Brown Rice Family on September 28 12-2pm. Brooklyn Book Festival Children's Day at Brooklyn Commons Park in Downtown Brooklyn

Visit the Brooklyn Book Festival’s annual Children’s Day at Brooklyn Commons Park in Downtown Brooklyn. With a Picture Book Stage, Young Reader’s Stage, Performance Stage, Workshop Room, and a dedicated Makers & Creators area, families will enjoy a full day of readings, workshops, performances, book signings, and art projects with favorite authors and illustrators.

The 49th Annual Atlantic Antic on Atlantic Avenue in Boerum Hill

A Brooklyn institution, The Annual Atlantic Antic, produced by the Atlantic Avenue Local Development Corporation, is the oldest and largest street festival in Brooklyn and a joyful experience, looked forward to by residents of Brooklyn and beyond each year.

10th Annual German School Oktoberfest on Governors Island

Brooklyn Museum's 200th Anniversary Birthday Bash

The Brooklyn Museum will kick off its anniversary celebration with a Birthday Bash, filled with family-friendly programming and events that will highlight the best of the borough and mark two centuries of doing things “the Brooklyn way.”

Fall Festival at Atlantic Terminal Plaza in Downtown Brooklyn

Atlantic Terminal and Brooklyn Bridge Parents are hosting a FREE family-friendly fall festival on Atlantic Terminal’s outdoor plaza and car-free Fort Greene Place on Sunday, October 13th from 11 am to 2 PM. We will set up an "urban pumpkin patch" with over 1,000 pumpkins waiting to be decorated by the kiddos. The outdoor plaza and car-free Fort Greene Place will feature arts & crafts, pumpkin painting, block building, haunted trucks to enter (if you dare), soccer, a costume dance party, and more! Kids are encouraged to come in costumes.

Sound & Color! Autumn in New York at Brooklyn Bridge Park 

Enjoy live musical performances, food vendors, kids activities, arts and crafts, field games and more—including our signature pumpkin patch. We have a great lineup of community partners who will be lending their time and talents, for a day of family-friendly fun. (Renamed from "Harvest Festival"!)

Brooklyn FAM 2024: Festival of Arts & Music in Prospect Park

Don’t miss Brooklyn FAM's 4th annual flagship festival! Join folks of all ages for an incredible, intergenerational celebration of Latinx and Afro-Latinx voices: Haitian, Afro-Dominican, Colombian, Afro-Colombian, Garifuna, Afro-Panamanian, Mexican, and Guatemalan. This FREE, family-friendly event embraces Brooklyn FAM's year-long theme of home, identity, and belonging across puppet theater, music, dance, dance workshops, spoken word, craft stations, a collaborative public art project, children's author visits, and a panel discussion. Culturally aligned food from Brooklyn eateries will be available for purchase (vegan and kosher options available).




Saturday, October 26 | 12pm-4pm (Dog costume contest 12pm-1:30pm)

The 26th Annual Great Pupkin Dog Costume Contest + Halloween Fest in Fort Greene Park 

The Great PUPkin is Brooklyn's largest and most outrageous dog costume contest. Scads of dogs enter and ruthlessly compete for the coveted Great PUPkin rosettes for the top pups! Come in costume and stay for the Haunted Costume Ball at the Park's Halloween Fest! Enjoy spooky stories, face painting, a haunted maze, music, family-friendly games, and more.

Halloween Festival in Bay Ridge

Brooklyn Bridge Parents is partnering up with the 5th Avenue BID in Bay Ridge to host a big fall festival on 10 blocks on car-free 5th Avenue from 72nd to 85th Street. Come enjoy the many restaurants from all over the world, the uniquely decorated houses in the side streets and a block party with bouncy houses, arts & crafts, pumpkin decorating, “Trunk-or-Treat”, haunted trucks, music, magic show and much more. The event will take place on Saturday, October 26th from 3 to 7 pm. The magic show will take place from 4 to 5 pm. Kids are encouraged to come in costumes.

3rd Annual City of Forest Day across NYC

The third annual City of Forest Day is on Saturday, October 26th, 2024! Presented by Forest for All NYC in partnership with the Parks and Open Space Partners – NYC Coalition and NYC Parks, City of Forest Day is an annual day of activities across the city to raise awareness of the importance of the New York City urban forest, and the essential role New Yorkers play every day in caring for the “lungs” of our city.

Pump­kin Point Festival on Governors Island 

Vis­i­tors are invit­ed to pick out their own pump­kins (one per household, free with sug­gest­ed dona­tion) Octo­ber 26 & 27, from 10am to 5pm. Cos­tumes are encour­aged, with trick-or-treat­ing at Nolan Park’s his­toric hous­es on both days. Gov­er­nors Island food ven­dors will be on-site with fall-themed food and drink avail­able for pur­chase from sev­er­al Gov­er­nors Island vendors.

Court Street Spectacular Street Fair in Brooklyn Heights

Court Street Spectacular Street Fair – located between Atlantic Avenue and Joralemon Street – is Brooklyn's last big street festival of the year! Take a stroll down Court Street and visit the merchants and vendors, good eats, and kiddie rides on Court Street.

Halloween at Brooklyn Children's Museum in Crown Heights

Halloween is back at BCM! Join us on Sunday, October 27 for a day of costumed fun and trick-or-treating around the Museum’s exhibits and a special anime-themed celebration curated by AniTOMO Con.

BAMboo! at BAM in Fort Greene

Brooklyn’s favorite family-friendly Halloween party is back! Put a lid on the cauldron, grab your broomsticks, and soar over to BAM for an afternoon of candy giveaways, carnival games, arts and crafts, and kid-friendly movies.

DUMBOWEEN Trick-or-Treating and Archway Party in DUMBO

One of our favorite neighborhood traditions, DUMBOWEEN brings hundreds of costumed Dumbonians out for our Annual March to the Arch through Brooklyn Bridge Park with brass bands + puppets, followed an Archway Party featuring crafts with Creatively WILD Art Studio, a photobooth and of course, candy! Plus, Trick-or-Treat at 50 + Dumbo small businesses around the neighborhood!

Day of the Dead Family Celebration at Green-Wood Cemetery

Discover the rich history and traditions associated with the holiday Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) through family-friendly crafts, performances, music, activities, and food.

New York City Marathon with route traversing Bay Ridge to N. Brooklyn

Cheer on fearless NYC Marathon runners as they embark on their 26.2-mile challenge starting at the Verrazano Bridge. Stake out a front row cheer spot or bounce around these Brooklyn neighborhood favorites: 4th Avenue in Sunset Park, 4th Avenue in Park Slope, Mile 8 Cheering Station at 300 Ashland in Fort Greene, Lafayette Avenue in Clinton Hill, Bedford Avenue in Bed-Stuy, Bedford Avenue in Williamsburg, Manhattan Avenue in Greenpoint.

Brooklyn Folk Festival at St. Ann's Church in Brooklyn Heights

The Brooklyn Folk Festival is a celebration of down home music, cultural diversity and memory. The annual festival provides an opportunity for community to come together, enjoy local, national, and international music and take part in workshops, film screenings, contests and jam sessions. The 3-day festival includes 30+ bands, vocal and instrumental workshops, a family-friendly square dance, jam sessions, film screenings, the famous Banjo Toss contest and more!

Best of BAMkids Film Festival

Experience your favorite films from this year’s festival all over again—or for the very first time—as we screen some of BAMkids Film Festival’s greatest hits from 2024!

18th Annual Brooklyn Children’s Book Fair at Brooklyn Museum

Calling all young book lovers! Meet more than 40 of your favorite Brooklyn authors and illustrators as they share their latest publications. This free event features storybooks, picture books, chapter books, and graphic novels—fiction and nonfiction—for preschoolers to middle schoolers. Throughout the day, children can chat with authors and illustrators, listen to readings and watch artists sketch, get books signed, meet a famous dog, and participate in book-related art projects.
