Go-to Brooklyn parent resources Macaroni KID Brooklyn NW and Brooklyn Bridge Parents have teamed up to bring you some of the best family events for Brooklyn families in June including annual festivals, outdoor movie screenings and performances, Pride and Juneteenth celebrations, a first-ever celebration of Brooklyn non-profits, and more special events as we head into summer. Happy June!


1. Photoville Opening Weekend Celebration at Brooklyn Bridge Park

Saturday, June 1 12pm-9pm & Sunday, June 2 11am-6pm |  FREE | DUMBO

Celebrate the opening of the 13th annual Photoville Festival with a community celebration! There will be two full days of family-friendly activities, photography workshops, engaging tours, and a captivating night of visual storytelling. There is something for everyone! Family activities include Drop-In Zine-Making (1-4pm) and a Cyanotype Workshop with Medicinal Herbs (4-6pm) on Saturday and Craft Activities with Creatively Wild (12-5pm) on Sunday. If you find yourself hungry, there will be delicious bites at the Smorgasburg Pop-Up.





2. The Brooklyn Greek Festival

Monday, June 3 – Sunday, June 9 | FREE entry | Downtown Brooklyn

Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral of Brooklyn annually hosts a vibrant outdoor Greek festival on car-free Schermerhorn Street that celebrates the rich heritage and traditions of Greece. The festival embodies the warmth and hospitality for which the Greek community is renowned, welcoming all to revel in the festivities. There will be traditional food, dancing, live music, kids activities and much more daily starting at 11am. Special highlight Brooklyn Bouzouki Night on Thursday, June 6th with live music and dancing.

4. Celebrate Pride Month

  • 28th Annual Brooklyn Pride Multicultural Festival & Main Stage

    The 28th Annual Brooklyn Pride Multicultural Festival spans from Union Street to 9th Street on 5th Avenue. The Main Stage at J.J. Byrne Playground is the vibrant heart of Brooklyn Pride’s festival where talent takes center stage and resonates in every note and performance. All afternoon, the Main Stage showcases beautiful talents and voices from our community.

5. Catch Outdoor Performances

  • BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn Family Day
    Saturday, June 8 | 3pm doors, 4pm show | FREE | Prospect Park
    Come enjoy an afternoon of music that defies conventions and sparks your imagination. Headliner The Halluci Nation, formerly known as A Tribe Called Red, will dazzle your ears with their Indigenous-inspired electronica. Openers Xiuhtezcatl and Asase Yaa Youth Ensemble take you on a musical journey, from Xiuhtezcatl’s raw lyricism to the vibrant rhythms of Asase Yaa’s African drumming. Bring your whole family and enjoy fun activities on the lawn at this all-ages event.
  • Philharmonic in Prospect Park

    Thomas Wilkins conducts the Orchestra in a program that ranges from classics by Beethoven, Elgar, and Rimsky-Korsakov to Felix Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto, with Randall Goosby as soloist, to new music by Carlos Simon and NY Phil Very Young Composers. This concert is scheduled to conclude with fireworks!
  • Metropolitan Opera in Brooklyn Bridge Park

    An annual summer tradition, the Metropolitan Opera’s popular concert series in New York City parks kicks off with a free outdoor recital. Three of today’s most exciting young stars—soprano Leah Hawkins, tenor Mario Chang, and bass-baritone Michael Sumuel—come together for an effervescent evening of favorite arias, duets, and ensembles, accompanied by Met assistant conductor Dimitri Dover at the piano.
  • Make Music New York with venues all across NYC

    Completely different from a typical music festival, Make Music New York is open to anyone who wants to take part. 6. Celebrate Juneteenth

  • Marvin’s First Day: A Juneteenth Celebration for Kids at CityPoint BKLYN
    Saturday, June 15 | 11am-1pm | FREE | For ages 3-10 | Downtown Brooklyn
    Hosted by City Point and Da Spot NYC, this celebration in Downtown Brooklyn is perfect for kids aged 3-10. Enjoy a special read-aloud by Malcolm Dill and a captivating spoken word performance by Kayden Hern, known for his poem “In My Mind” recited at Governor Hochul’s inauguration! Juneteenth-inspired activities will include DIY crafts: a Make-Your-Own-Flag station, a bracelet beading bar, Marvin’s First Day coloring sheets, and a cookie decorating station. All with an emphasis on celebrating the holiday and encouraging kids. 
  • Juneteenth Food Festival at Weeksville Heritage Center
    Saturday, June 15 | 11am-8pm | FREE | Crown Heights
    In partnership with Jummy's Picks by Black-Owned Brooklyn, this vibrant event celebrates Black food, culture, history, and joy. The Juneteenth Food Festival brings together 30+ food businesses for a delicious celebration of Black cuisine, as well as a marketplace of apparel, accessories, books, self-care products, and more, all from local Black brands. Attendees will also enjoy music from the legendary Soul Summit Music DJ collective, Double Dutch with the Jazzy Jumpers, dance performances and workshops by Haus of Glitter, restorative yoga led by Sensate Wellness, art-making activities, food demos, book signings, and more. 
  • We Outside! A Brooklyn Juneteenth [Vol. 2] at The Plaza at 300 Ashland
    Saturday, June 15 | 2pm-8pm | FREE | Fort Greene
    651 ARTS and The Soapbox Presents are taking to The Plaza at 300 Ashland for We Outside! A Brooklyn Juneteenth, Vol II. Vibe to live music, dance, spoken word, and so much more as we celebrate freedom through individual expression. The Plaza will be brought to life to life in full force with this jam-packed event! Join us for a day of culture and community!
  • Juneteenth Family Day at Green-Wood Cemetery
    Saturday, June 15 | 1-4pm | FREE | Greenwood Heights
    Participate in free kids’ art activities in Green-Wood's Historic Chapel with event partner ASNEAA and take a self-guided tour of the gravesites of fascinating Black historical figures. Maps and biographies of featured burial sites will be available when you enter the Cemetery, and our trolley will run on a loop to all sites so folks can hop on and off as they please.

    Join Brooklyn Children’s Museum and friends in neighboring Brower Park for a special Juneteenth commemoration featuring live music, storytelling, art projects, and more!     Myrtle Avenue Summer Nights returns to Fort Greene and Clinton Hill this summer on the 3rd Friday of every month! Join them for FREE live music on the Myrtle Ave Plaza featuring the steelpan ensemble Unison Steel & Kateryna Matvieienko along with family-friendly activities along Myrtle Avenue including double dutch by Elite BKLYN Jumpers, caricature drawing, face painting, balloon twisting, and so much more!
  • Smith Street Music and Arts Festival in Carroll Gardens
    Sunday, June 23 | 10am-6pm | FREE | Carroll Gardens
    Get ready to welcome summer! Smith Street Alliance invites you to their reimagined festival for lots of family-friendly fun including Kids Rides, Face-Painting, Live Entertainment, Food Vendors (local eateries will bring seating to the street in lieu of food trucks!), Artisans, Crafters, and more!




8. Show Brooklyn Some Love Fest at CityPoint BKLYN

Brooklyn Org, Brooklyn Bridge Parents, Brooklyn Made and City Point unite the community and bring the borough’s spirit to life at the first “Show Brooklyn Some Love Fest". The free event will showcase arts, music and dance performances for all ages by Brooklyn's non-profits. Kids will have an opportunity to show their love for our Borough by participating in building the FIRST EVER gigantic Brooklyn Bridge from recycled materials. 9. The 42nd Annual Mermaid Parade

Saturday, June 22 | 1pm | FREE | Coney Island

Founded in 1983, the Mermaid Parade pays tribute to a century of Coney Island ingenuity, revelry, and pageantry by celebrating the artistic vision of the masses. With everything from a crowned King Neptune and Queen Mermaid, fantastical sea creatures and mer-folk, marching bands and dancing groups, to baby strollers and mechanized floats, it showcases the creativity of individuals from the five boroughs and beyond. It opens the summer with a celebration of incredible art, NYC’s entrepreneurial spirit, and our community pride. 





10. Weekly Coney Island Fireworks Fridays

Starts June 21 at 9:45pm | FREE | Coney Island 

Head to the Coney Island boardwalk to catch weekly fireworks kicking off on the Summer Solstice! Arrive early for a trip to neighboring Luna Park, New York Aquarium, or a Brooklyn Cyclones game at Maimonides Park.
