Go-to Brooklyn parent resources Macaroni KID Brooklyn NW and Brooklyn Bridge Parents have teamed up to bring you some of the best family events for Brooklyn families in March including family performances, indoor kids' activities, and holiday celebrations for St. Patrick's Day, Holi, and Easter!

1. Kid-friendly theater and dance performances

  • Cinderella at Central Library in Grand Army Plaza
    Saturday, March 2 | 1-2pm | FREE
    Enjoy this free performance of the classic tale at Brooklyn Public Library.
  • Jack and the Beanstalk with Child's Play NY at Brooklyn Heights Library
    Saturday, March 2 | 3:30-4:30pm | FREE
    Children engage in a story and practice bravery, silliness, improvisation, singing and more! Bravery and wit are on display in this imaginative retelling. Help Jack and other characters along on their quest using theater games.
  • The Other Side at BAM in Fort Greene
    Saturday, March 2 & Sunday, March 3 | 11am & 3pm | | $18 tickets | For ages 7+
    Sensory-friendly performance on March 3 at 3pm
    Twenty years after its first publication, Jacqueline Woodson’s powerful picture book The Other Side comes to life on stage in an enthralling program of dance about overcoming the barriers that keep us apart.
  • Show Way The Musical at BAM in Fort Greene
    Saturday, March 16 2pm & 7pm & Sunday, March 17 11am & 3pm | $18 tickets | For ages 7+
    Sensory-friendly performance on March 17 at 3pm
    This stirring historical musical—adapted from Jacqueline Woodson’s acclaimed children’s book—pays tribute to the women in Woodson’s own family whose strength and knowledge have illuminated their daughters’ lives over seven generations. 



2. Kids' concerts

  • 10th Annual Brooklyn Music School Jazz Festival in Fort Greene
    Saturday, March 2 | 11am-6:30pm | $10 suggested
    The 2024 BMS Middle School Jazz Festival will include performances by guest artist and fabulous trumpet player Terell Stafford with the Brooklyn Music School Jazz Faculty and local middle schools. There will also be workshops for brass, woodwind, and rhythm sections as well as clinics on Listening to Jazz and Jazz Evolution.
  • Timbalooloo Jazz for Kids at National Sawdust in Williamsburg
    Sunday, March 3 | 11am (10:30am doors) | $15/ticket
    In this monthly interactive series, instruments come to life and speak through their music, so that children learn to conceive of music as a dialogue amongst instruments and feel empowered to express themselves by making their instruments talk. Hosted by Timbalooloo founder Oran Etkin and his friend Clara Net (his clarinet), featuring special guests!
  • Lavender Blues: REMIXES, a Family Hip-Hop Concert at Brooklyn Children's Museum
    Thursday, March 7 | 3-3:45am | FREE during museum's Amazon Free Hours
    Join us as Lady B of Lavender Blues performs “The REMIXES,” a hip-hop concert for families. Parents and little ones will love this interactive, toe-tapping, get-out-of-your-seat good time with Lady B and her Bunnies!
  • Uncle Shlomo's Family Concert Series presents Flor Bromley at Jalopy Theatre in Red Hook
    Saturday, March 16 | 11am | $10 adults, $5 kids
    From award-winning folk musicians to rock-n-rollers, puppeteers and pop stars, this family concert series is sure to engage, entertain and educate your entire family! Flor Bromley is a Latin GRAMMY Nominated recording artist, bilingual singer/songwriter, actress, storyteller and puppeteer.
  • HERstory with Flor Bromley at Brooklyn Children's Museum
    Thursday, March 21 | 2-5pm | FREE during museum's Amazon Free Hours
    Celebrate Women’s History Month with this special performance by bilingual musician, Flor Bromley! HERstory is a musical one woman show about influential women of our generation.
  • Family Concert: Five Magical Tales at Brooklyn Museum in Park Slope
    Saturday, March 23 | 1pm & 3:30pm | $15-25
    Brooklyn Conservatory Community Orchestra (BCCO) will take you on a mesmerizing musical journey presents its annual family concert at the Brooklyn Museum. Delve into the rich tapestry of world folklore through the masterpieces of renowned composers. Each piece promises to transport listeners to distant lands and evoke the timeless essence of folklore.
  • Rolie Polie Guacamole at Jalopy Theatre in Red Hook
    Saturday, March 23 | 11am-12pm | $10 adv / $12 door
    Rolie Polie Guacamole has developed a smart, parent-friendly musical style that dresses up original tunes and classic covers with vibrant harmonies and deft instrumental layers, plugging in a sizzling electric current of rhythm that lights up lyrics humming with relevance and humor.


3. Wearable Art with Brooklyn FAM at Brooklyn Children's Museum

Saturday, March 2, Sunday, March 10, Saturday, March 24 | 11 am – 1 pm | $14-15 admission

Join BCM for a series of art activities to engage with the Brooklyn FAM: Festival of Arts and Music public art exhibit, currently on view in BCM. Each event will be led by the lead artist for each of the three projects on view. Through personal reflection and hands-on crafting, kids and families will be able to create wearable art that carries meaning into their daily lives and sparks new connections with others.



4. March KIDS Madness: A Saturday Series at CityPoint in Downtown Brooklyn

Saturdays March 9 (11am-2pm), 16 (11am-1pm), 23 (11am-2pm) | FREE crafts, $20 shows (Free for kids under 2) | For ages 3-9

Shows, Entertainment, Crafts, Experiments, Playtime, Photo-Ops, and SO much more! Ticketed shows for ages 2+:

  • March 9 - 11 am to 2 pm - Circus Bash
    30 minute circus magic shows with audience interaction. Plus 30 minutes juggling lesson with scarves and spinning plate lesson in smaller groups
  • March 16 - 11 am to 1 pm - Princess Bash
    Interactive storytime, sing-along, royal ball with dance lessons, temporary tattoos, and princess meet and greet with individual photos.
  • March 23 - 11 am to 2 pm - Science Bash
    60 minute science shows with audience interaction.


5. Dadurdays at Wild East Brewing Company in Gowanus

Saturday, March 9 | 11am | FREE entry

Join local dad and Compass real estate salesperson Casey at new series Dadurdays at Wild East Browing Company for family-friendly craft beer and craft activities with Color Architect Kids. Bring your kids, bring your friends, bring your partners (or give them a break). No RSVP needed, but shoot me a DM if you know you’re coming.





6. New York International Children's Film Festival at Alamo Drafthouse Downtown Brooklyn

Sunday, March 10 | 11am and 1:20pm | $17 tickets | For ages 8+

Established in 1997, NYICFF’s mission is rooted in the belief of film as a path for young people to understand themselves and others. Most films are screened in Manhattan, but two will be coming to Alamo Drafthouse on March 10:

    Even without dialogue, this Oscar® nominated, hand-drawn story about a dog and his robot captures all the sweetness that can span a friendship, whether it lasts for a reason or for a season.



7. National Girls & Women in Sports Day in Red Hook

Sunday, March 17 – 12pm–2pm | FREE | For ages 6+

National Girls and Women in Sports Day is an annual celebration of Title IX. Join them for a fun afternoon of sports and group activities. Learn new skills with NYC Parks' sports clinics in soccer, basketball, football, and more.

9. Celebrate Holi with Brooklyn Conservatory of Music in Prospect Park

Sunday, March 24 | 3-5pm | FREE entry, $6 for each colored powder packet

Join Mixed Masala and BKCM in celebrating Holi! The celebration begins at 3pm with picnicking and live music at Long Meadow (near Grand Army Plaza). Bring a blanket and snacks and enjoy the free concert. At 4pm, the music will change its tune and attendees will be invited to join in the traditional celebration of throwing colored powder. Wear white clothing and expect to get messy! 





10. Celebrate Easter

  • Easter Egg Hunt at Green Meadows Farm in Marine Park
    March 23, 24, 29, 30, 31 and April 1, 6, 7 | 11:00 am – 5:00 pm | $14
    Brooklyn’s favorite Easter Egg Hunt is on! Join Green Meadows Farm for a fun-filled day with Whiskers, the Easter Bunny, and all his friends at the farm!     Saturday, March 30 | 11am-2pm | FREE activities in the Plaza, ticketed egg hunt and cookie decorating on Rooftop
    With free activities like Hype Dance, face painting, spring wreath-making, egg races, and Easter Bunny selfies on Seaport Square and a ticketed Easter egg hunt and cookie decorating on The Rooftop at Pier 17, there’s plenty of afternoon activities to keep kids busy and spark their creative sides.

Bonus March event highlight in Manhattan:

PLAYTOPIA: A World of Fun with Summer Camps at Pier 57 in Chelsea

Sunday, March 17 | 11am-3pm | FREE

Discover and play with dozens of summer camps and activities at PLAYTOPIA, presented by Nory and hosted by Mommy Poppins and Brooklyn Bridge Parents. Free activities include arts and crafts, STEM and robotics, games, collaborative sculpture build, face painting, games, and more. The magic shows will take place at 12 pm and 1 pm (each 30 minutes). Located indoors at beautiful Pier 57 in Chelsea, with Market 57 Food Hall, and adjacent to Little Island. It’s going to be a world of fun!
