Kids love BB Skateboard Club Lessons & Camps in North Brooklyn

Kids of all skill levels develop skateboarding skills with skatepark field trips across NYC

By Broken Bones Skateboard Club February 8, 2023

“Skateboarding has changed my life” is something you often hear from people with the curiosity to find out what it takes to learn and progress in this very creative sport.

BBSC, otherwise known as Broken Bones Skate Club, has been introducing skateboarding to kids of all ages for almost 15 years. Owner Omar Rivera says the popularity of skateboarding has been on the rise since the Mid 90’s.  In no small part due to Tony Hawk’s popular video game and more recently skateboarding being accepted into the Olympics.

Skateboarding is also really evolving! We’ve always had girls in our classes, however now more than ever we are seeing a spike in interest, with more girls than ever registering for our classes.  In addition to our regular classes, we recently added an all girls skate class.

Skateboarding has always been accepting to those who are looking for something different, a true outlet for creative expression. It’s something that you can really make your own, from the design on your board, your style (movement and flow), to your trick selection.  At BBSC, you decide and we help encourage and open your eyes to the possibilities.

BBSC offers a variety of classes throughout the year:

About Summer Camp:

10 weeks of summer camp beginning June 28th, is an experience like no other.

Camp starts out with meditation and stretching, as we get to know your goals for the day.

With a low student to teacher ratio, each skater works at their own level, getting the help they need to progress and learn.

BBSC travels to a new skatepark each day via shuttle bus, giving us the ability to choose from nearly 30 skateparks located in NYC & NJ.  The experience of seeing different parts of the city, the sites, sounds, and different parks is a special part of the camp experience. Students bond, discussing what bridge we are going over or what buildings they see. This experience has such a positive effect on social interactions, providing a great sense of fun, learning and community.
