Celebrate the holidays on Atlantic Avenue

Head to Atlantic for stunning shop windows, tree-lighting festivities, and special events!

The holiday season on Atlantic Avenue is extra festive, with stunning shop windows, tree-lighting festivities, and special events hosted by the Atlantic Avenue Local Development Corporation (AALDC).





Tuesday, November 22, 6pm: Annual Tree Lighting

Families from the community are invited to the Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony. The free public event will take place at the St. Cyril of Turov Belarusian Church, located at 401 Atlantic Avenue. Assemblymember Jo Anne Simon and Councilmember Lincoln Restler will officiate the ceremony with the Girl Scouts Brownie Troop 2518 counting down to the official lighting of the holiday tree! Lafayette Inspirational Ensemble will sing holiday classics. 

Sunday, December 4, 12-3pm: Children's Party at Hoyt Street Garden (switched from December 3rd due to rain forecast)

The AALDC is having a Children's Party with Santa and Olaf at Hoyt Street Garden (98 Hoyt Street). Children are invited to decorate the fences of the local community garden with DIY ornaments or they can bring them from home. Santa will make a special appearance for families to take photos and spread holiday cheer. The wonderful kid’s band Rolie Polie Guacamole will perform! And Macaroni Kid Brooklyn NW will host giveaways and kids' activities. Stop by for a "guess how may macaroni are in the jar" contest or spin the wheel for a prize (while supplies last)! Saturdays, December 10, 17: Holiday Festivities on Atlantic Avenue

Music, Santa, and More along Atlantic Avenue! Santa will be strolling Atlantic Avenue on December 10th and 17th; bring the kids out to spot him! The fun continues on Atlantic Avenue for Giveback Saturday on December 17th. Participating shops will give a portion of their sales to charity. So when you do holiday shopping you’re giving back.

Through December 12: AALDC Holiday Toy Drive & Women's Shelter Donations

The AALDC Annual Toy Drive provides toys and donations to disadvantaged children and families at local homeless shelters and other partners. With your contribution of funds or requested toys, we would be able to bring smiles to the faces of many children this holiday season. Any amount is appreciated and helpful.

November 26–December 17: Shop, Dine & Celebrate 

Enjoy special deals and promotions at participating businesses! Shop local for holiday gifts for your family and friends. Until December 17, local merchants will offer discounts on selected items and/or special deals for Shop & Dine Promotion. All season: Walk the Windows + Vote for your favorite!

Many merchants have decorated their windows for the season. On Wednesday, November 30th a panel of judges will pick the best windows and cash awards will be given. This year’s judges will include Sharon Sprung, portrait artist for former first lady Michelle Obama, Sergio Delavicci, actor in John Wick 3 and Creed 2, and Hannah Robinett, conceptual artist. They will vote for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners. For the list of judges and bios, visit atlanticave.org/holidays A special ‘People’s Choice Award’ will be introduced for the first time this year. The public can cast their vote by scanning the QR code at their favorite business’ window display. The winner will be announced on December 19th.
