Kid-friendly parades, performances, and parties to celebrate St. Patty's!

Whether you have Irish blood or simply love the culture, St. Patrick's Day is a chance to celebrate one of Ireland's patron saints with parades, traditional foods, green attire, and more. Here is our round up of family-friendly Irish culture event picks in NYC this month. Bookmark this article; we’ll be updating this list as more events come in!


Saturday, March 2, 1pm – Rockaway Beach

49th Annual Queens County St. Patrick's Day Parade in Rockaway Beach
The Queens County St. Patrick’s Day parade attracts approximately 50,000 spectators each year and is a grand tradition. This year’s march, the 49th of its kind, is no different and will feature a number of marching bands, bagpipes, drummers, and more. Early birds can attend a mass for peace and justice at St. Francis de Sales Church (129th St and Rockaway Beach Blvd) beforehand.


The proud tradition of the Queens County St. Patrick’s Day continues on Saturday, March 4 at 1:00 p.m at Beach 130th Street.


Sunday, March 3, 12pm – Sunnyside, Queens

25th Annual St Pat's For All Parade in Queens
We return once again this year to Skillman Avenue and the hospitable communities of Sunnyside and Woodside. We gather to celebrate our immigrant history and heritage, Irish and Celtic. Hospitality is at the heart of this diverse and inclusive St. Patrick's celebration which each year welcomes all immigrant families and communities in Queens to join us, “cherishing all the children of the nation equally."




March 8–15, multiple showtimes – NoHo

A Taste of Ireland: The Irish Music & Dance Sensation at The Sheen Center

Laugh, cry, and jig into the night with a production that is Celtic, for this generation. Performed by former World Irish dance champions and featuring lead dancers from the West End’s Lord of the Dance and Riverdance, ‘A Taste of Ireland’ transports the audience through the story of Ireland’s tumultuous history delivered with a pint of Irish wit. Watch world-class performers blend melodic folk mashups, live jaw-droppingly acapella tap battles, and heartwarming storytelling. Featuring revamped classics of Danny Boy, Tell Me Ma, Wild Rover, and many more well-known songs, the show’s reimagined contemporary score blossoms alongside the brash Irish charm of the live dance cast. ‘A Taste of Ireland’ merges cultural traditions, modern flair, and craic galore, to deliver a performance that has been leaving audiences across the globe jigging on their feet for the last decade.

"Keepsakes: Ireland" co-presented with Irish Arts Center and Battery Park City Authority
A Saturday Family Workshop highlighting stories from Ireland co-presented by Irish Arts Center and Battery Park City Authority highlighting stories from Ireland plus a live performance by Liz Hanley. Art project is designed for ages 4+


March 9 and 12, 11am – Boerum Hill

St. Patrick's Day Craft Workshops at The Craft Studio Brooklyn

  • Leprechaun Hunt Party-Diorama Leprechaun Trap – Saturday, March 9, 10-11am
    It’s that time again…leprechauns are on the move! Craft your own green leprechaun scene and lure him in with rainbows and gold and maybe you will find your own treasure. For ages 5-12.
  • Pot of Gold Workshop – Tuesday, March 12, 4-5pm
    Craft your own end of the rainbow! At this workshop, we will make a mini pot of gold slimes and a multimedia rainbow canvas complete with a green-wearing leprechaun! For ages 5-12.
  • St. Patrick's Day Breakfast and Cookie Deco – Saturday, March 15, 10-11am 
    Start your weekend off with all things green!  Decorate delicious sugar cookies with green candy, edible clay fondant, golden edible glitter, and more!  Design a bakery box for your cookies and have some breakfast while you design your leprechaun cookie collection!




Friday, March 15, 8am – Multiple locations including Bay Ridge

Irish Arts Center's 12th Annual Book Day
Our wonderful community of volunteers and staff, sponsors and supporters will once again celebrate St. Patrick’s season by helping New Yorkers "get lit"! This year, we celebrate New York writers alongside authors from Ireland and the Irish diaspora. Come find us at one of our pop-up stations across the five boroughs, where we’ll be distributing thousands of free titles of all genres from 8am until the books run out.





Saturday, March 16 & Sunday, March 17, 10am-9pm – Sunset Park

St Patrick’s Day Weekend at Gun Hill Publick House in Industry City
The 6 Nations Rugby tournament finishes up Saturday with Ireland playing Scotland! Opening Saturday at 10 am for the tournament: there will be live music in the afternoon, Eat With Nana will be cooking your favorite Irish dishes, Gun Hill will be releasing their Irish Red Ale, and Sunday Empanada Papa is bringing their empanadas to the taproom (but putting an Irish twist on them), so don’t miss out on a weekend of fun at Gun Hill!


Saturday, March 16, 11am – Midtown East

The Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade in Manhattan
The New York City Saint Patrick’s Day Parade™  is the oldest and largest St. Patrick’s Day Parade in the world. The first parade was held on March 17, 1762 — fourteen years before the signing of the Declaration of Independence.




Saturday, March 16, 12-4pm – Hell's Kitchen

Annual St. Patrick's Open Day at Irish Arts Center
Our 2023 open house features all-day traditional music and dance, live piano karaoke sing-alongs of Ireland and Irish-America’s greatest hits, a performance and group lesson by World Irish Dance Champion Tyler Shwartz, spring equinox-inspired arts and crafts, and a sampling of our multidisciplinary educational offerings. 




Saturday, March 16, 1-4pm – Midtown

13th Annual Sober St. Patrick's Day® Celebration in Midtown
The mission of Sober St. Patrick's Day ® is to reclaim the true spirit of St. Patrick's Day by changing the perception and experience from an occasion for binge drinking and other misuses of alcohol to a celebration of the richness of Irish culture and the legacy of St. Patrick.

Sunday, March 17, 9:30am – Bay Ridge

Brooklyn St. Patrick's 5K & 10K Run/Walk in Bay Ridge
Celebrate St. Patrick's with a 5K or 10K! Out & Back scenic boardwalk running comes with amazing views of the Verrazzano Bridge so be sure to grab a selfie - and if you don't, our volunteers will capture the moment for you! Proceeds benefit the Never Stop Running Foundation (NSRF) ; a 501 (c) 3 non-profit that supports athletic and charitable events as they raise awareness and foster community involvement.





Sunday, March 17, 10am-12pm – Williamsburg

St. Patrick's Day Family Cooking Class at Hudson Table Brooklyn in Williamsburg
Join Hudson Table for a St. Patrick's Day themed family class!  They'll be making Irish soda bread, shepherd's pie and shamrock shakes! Adults and kids will learn some knife skills along with cooking & baking basics. Alttendees will eat together at the end of the class. Recommended ages: 8-14


Sunday, March 17, 11am on – Park Slope

Annual Brooklyn St. Patrick's Parade at Bartel-Pritchard Square in Prospect Park SW
The Annual Brooklyn St. Patrick's Parade in Park Slope is the oldest St. Patrick's Parade in Brooklyn. The event features music, marching bands, face painting, antique cars, Irish Dancers, and much more.




Thursday, March 17, 3pm-9pm – Long Island City

"40 Shades of Green" St. Patrick's Day Gathering in Long Island City
Back by popular demand, the NY Irish Center brings us its second annual St Patrick's Day cultural feast, “40 Shades of Green.” Chosen by Time Out NY as the #2 Top St Patrick's Day activity in New York, this remarkable cavalcade of local and international performers and personalities runs a continuous six hours from 3 pm to 9 pm, as the NY Irish Center happily assumes the mantle of the official hub of St. Patrick’s Day cultural activity.


Sunday, March 17, 5pm – DUMBO

St. Patrick's Day with Brooklyn Irish Dance Co. at Time Out Market in DUMBO
Time Out Market New York is bringing the luck of the Irish to DUMBO this March! Come celebrate St. Paddy’s Day Friday, March 17 at the Market where you’ll be able to take advantage of beer specials. Enjoy signature Specialty Cocktails courtesy of Bushmills Whiskey: $15 "Luck of the Irish & Cold Irish Coffee" There will also be a “pot of gold” surprise giveaway offering comped drinks, if you’re lucky enough to find it. From 6:30–7:30pm, you’ll also be able to enjoy some live entertainment from the Brooklyn Irish Dance Co.




Sunday, March 24, 12pm – Bay Ridge

29th Annual Bay Ridge St. Patrick's Day Parade
The Bay Ridge Saint Patrick’s Day Parade was the brain child of the late Gene Reilly in 1994, owner of the former Lief Erickson Pub on 5th Avenue. He wanted to share the Celtic culture and love of Irish Heritage. He believed there was a need and desire for this, and always room for one more parade in New York City.
