Come decorate your very own spin drums in celebration od Lunar Year/Chinese New Year - Year of the Horse! The moon determines the dates of the Chinese New Year. A lunar festival, it begins with the New Moon on Feb. 17, 2026. The festival itself is 16 days long, ending with the Lantern Festival on the date of the next full moon – the Worm Moon on Mar. 3, 2026
Spin Drum or Monkey Drum originated in China during the Song Dynasty as a children's toy and is still popular today. It is frequently used to celebrate the Chinese New Year to symbolize joy and prosperity.
Design: Consists of a drumhead, a vertical handle for rotating, and strings with beads. They are often made of wood or plastic with traditional Chinese paintings.
Cultural Significance: Represents strength, unity, and vitality.
This program is geared toward kids 4 and up.
