1. Coney Island Hot Dog Eating Competition + July 4th Fireworks Spectacular

Didn't nab a public viewing ticket for the Macy's fireworks at Brooklyn Bridge? Head to Coney Island! Watch the world’s top competitive eaters during their ten minutes of glory. It all goes down on the Fourth of July at the corner of Surf and Stillwell. Between the beach, Aquarium, Luna Park, and Deno's Wonder Wheel, there are so many ways to spend the day in Coney Island. Visitors can view the fireworks anywhere on the Boardwalk from West 10th Street to West 23rd Street to see the show around 9:45pm!

2. Play in the Square at Domino Park

Play in the Square returns to Domino Square featuring family-friendly activities and performances through October. Twice monthly, bring the family to Domino Square for a fun-filled Sunday morning, featuring programming by local, talented children's performers and educators. This month features programs on July 6th and 20th: 10:30am Musical Theatre with Bubbly B’s and 12:30pm Rockin’ Sing-alongs with Ari the Sing-along Guy.

4. Carroll Gardens Pop-Up Library Opening Celebration

Yes it's true! Carroll Gardens Pop Up Library will open on Tuesday, July 8 at 1 pm! Located at 250 Baltic St, they will offer holds pickup, returns, browsing, and library cards. Popup hours are: Monday 1-5, Tuesday 1-5, Thursday 3-7, Friday 10-2, Closed Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday. See you there! The space will be available until the new branch reopens in summer 2026.
5. OLMC Feast and Giglio Carnival

Since 1887, the Italian American community has been celebrating their faith, culture, and family traditions on the streets of Williamsburg. Each July, the streets are filled with revelers from near and far to take part in a centuries old tradition known as the Dancing of the Giglio. The streets surrounding the Shrine Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel are transformed into a vibrant festival with rides, games, food vendors, and daily entertainment. Special events:

6. Free Friends' Fest at Jackie Robinson Playground
Fridays starting July 11 | 5-7pm | Bed-Stuy
The Friends of Jackie Robinson Park Playground (FOJRPP) presents Free Friends’ Fest, a mini-festival produced by Bailey’s Cafe, PMMDC and 197 Patchen. They will bring art activities, performances, and fresh produce to the park to engage more residents and promote the Park as a hub for community gatherings and creative expression. Coming up on July 11, line dance with Kendra J. Ross and double dutch with Elite Brooklyn Jumpers.
7. Summer Saturdays for Families at Atlantic Terminal Mall

Join Brooklyn Bridge Parents and Atlantic Terminal Mall for Summer Saturdays with free water play, kids' activities, giveaways, and more fun for ages 0 - 12 on July 12 (and again on September 14) on the Atlantic Terminal Mall Plaza. Come out to play, cool off, and make friends!

8. City of Water Day Brooklyn Programs

Now in its 18th year, City of Water Day, is a free region-wide day organized by the Waterfront Alliance, the NY-NJ Harbor and Estuary Program, and other great partners to raise awareness about the dangers we all face from sea level rise and climate change, and to advocate for a climate resilient New York and New Jersey harbor. Brooklyn program locations include Brooklyn Bridge Park, Transmitter Park, Gowanus, Valentino Park, Waterfront Museum, Marine Park, Brighton Beach, Coney Island, and more. 9. Fort Greene Jazz Festival

13. Second Sundays at Pioneer Works

16. New York Transit Museum Nostalgia Ride to Coney Island

Join New York Transit Museum for their ever-popular, boardwalk-bound Coney Island Nostalgia Ride! Leaving from 96th Street-Second Avenue station in Manhattan, the New York Transit Museum will take their 1930s R-1/9 train vintage cars for a two-hour jaunt to Coney Island. Once they arrive at their seaside destination, you can brave the rides at Luna Park, check out the action on the legendary boardwalk, or nosh on one of Nathan’s Famous Hot Dogs. Visit the Transit Museum's special exhibit Five Cents to Dreamland: A Trip to Coney Island on display at the Coney Island Museum or enjoy additional rides before heading out. Stay at the beach and make your own way home or join the Transit Museum for a return trip leaving Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue at 4pm and traveling to 96th Street-Second Avenue where the trip will end.
